VIC: Clarke, Katich in dressing roon row after Test win

MELBOURNE, Feb 6 AAP - Australian opening batsman Simon Katich grabbed vice-captain

against South Africa last month.

fiancee Lara Bingle, News Limited said.

OWNERS GO EXTRA MILE TO MEET BUYER'S NEEDS
Byline: Kathleen Lynn
Section: REAL ESTATE
Type: News

The listing: Four-bedroom town house

Location: Old Tappan
Listed by: Beth Shiffman of Coldwell Banker in Tenafly

On the market: Two weeks

Asking price: $685,000

The game plan: Shiffman listed the home on the multiple listing service and advertised it in print and on the Internet. She also held open houses for real estate agents and the public.

The property was an estate sale, and the heirs worked hard to prepare it for the market, Shiffman said. They removed excess furniture and artwork and had interiors painted. "They kept it meticulously clean," Shiffman said.

Only one similar home had sold in the town house community in the past two years. Shiffman took that sale as a starting point, but added the value of this home's upgrades -- an extra bedroom, bathroom and family room on the lower level -- to come up with the asking price.

A buyer made an offer, and after negotiations, the sellers and buyer were $5,000 apart, Shiffman said. She advised the sellers to accept the buyer's offer rather than lose the deal over a relatively small amount, and they agreed. They also agreed to the buyer's request to close within two weeks, and moved all the furniture out on that timetable.

"They did what they had to do to satisfy the buyer's needs," Shiffman said.

The result: Another agent brought in the buyer and the home sold for $656,000.

Loan Market chief operating officer DEAN RUSHTON says these mortgages were the first

only one covers 98 per cent of a home purchase .. and the majority offer 95 per cent loans.

NSW: Boat builder wins appeal over Excalibur yacht deaths

SYDNEY, Dec 18 AAP - A boatbuilder has won his appeal against a manslaughter conviction
over the deaths of four people when their yacht broke up at sea.

The NSW Court of Criminal Appeal on Friday overturned the conviction of Alex Cittadini,
50, the director and engineer of Applied Alloy Yachts.

In July, a NSW District Court judge jailed him for at least 18 months, but granted
him bail pending the outcome of his appeal.

The Excalibur sank in September 2002 when its keel split in two in high winds near
Seal Rocks, off the mid-north coast of NSW, on a voyage from the Whitsundays to Sydney.

Crew members Tracy Luke, 32, Ann Maree Pope, 30, Christopher Hayes, 51, and Peter McLeod,

Fed: Opposition climate proposal "won't work": Combet

CANBERRA, Aug 10 AAP - An alternative plan to tackle climate change, to be unveiled
by the opposition on Monday, is too complex and won't work, says the federal government.

Opposition leader Malcolm Turnbull reportedly will announce that the coalition wants
to have two schemes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

A cap-and-trade emissions trading scheme would be in place for most sectors of the
economy, while a separate scheme would cover the electricity sector.

Electricity generators would only have to pay for their emissions over a certain threshold,
meaning they would pay less overall.

Junior climate change minister Greg Combet says the coalition is clutching at straws.

"This will not work," he told reporters in Canberra, adding it was "too complex" to
have two schemes.

The electricity scheme would not work because it would not be able to meet the government's
target to reduce emissions.

The only way to meet the targets was to set a cap, and that meant a cap-and-trade emissions
trading scheme, Mr Combet said.

The government does not intend to offer any more compensation to the coal sector under
its proposed scheme, an issue which the minister has been discussing with industry chiefs.

"I've had consultations with the coal industry over a period of time, they haven't
led to an accommodation, Mr Combet said, adding the $750 million offer from the government
would "fill the bill".

Senate debate on government legislation setting up what it calls the carbon pollution
reduction scheme starts on Tuesday with a vote scheduled for Thursday.

Fed: Australia pledges $5m cholera aid to Zimbabwe

SYDNEY, Feb 15 AAP - Australia will provide an extra $5 million immediately to help
Zimbabwe fight a cholera outbreak that has left nearly 3,500 people dead.

Foreign Minister Stephen Smith made the pledge during a phone call on Friday to congratulate
Morgan Tsvangirai on becoming Zimbabwe's new prime minister.

Mr Tsvangirai took the prime ministerial oath on Wednesday as part of a power-sharing
agreement with longtime president Robert Mugabe.

Mr Smith said the UN had reported 73,000 cases of cholera and almost 3,500 deaths in Zimbabwe.

"I told Prime Minister Tsvangirai that the government and the people of Australia stood
with him as he confronted the enormous challenges faced by the people of Zimbabwe," Mr
Smith said on Sunday.

"The cholera epidemic is the worst in modern day Zimbabwe and the worst in Africa for
several years."

The funding will go to the United Nations Childrens Fund (Unicef), with $3 million
to be used for its emergency water and sanitation program and $2 million to boost its
medicines support program.

Mr Smith said the federal government was considering other ways to aid Zimbabwe.

"The government is carefully and urgently examining what assistance it can give, particularly
in the health, education, food security and agriculture areas," he said.

"Australia will also consult with other major aid donors to determine how best we can
assist the people of Zimbabwe."

But Exclusive Brethren spokesman DANIEL HALES says Senator BROWN's attempt to refer

The Greens leader says the inquiry should examine 10 million dollars in government

Mr HALES says Brethren schools receive their funding the same way as other non-government

NSW: Iemma defends 'essential' desal plant drilling

SYDNEY, April 22 AAP - Tunnelling in Sydney's south for construction of the city's
desalination plant is "essential", Premier Morris Iemma says, amid calls for the work
to be suspended.

Federal Liberal MP Scott Morrison said residents at Kurnell had endured days of drilling
noise and severe vibrations, and a silt plume was evident in Botany Bay.

Mr Iemma said today the work to build the desalination plant's pipeline was delivering
on a government commitment.

"The government is off delivering what it committed to, securing the city's future
of which desal is one of many projects," he told reporters.

"These infrastructure projects ... are essential for the future of the city, and indeed
the future of the state.

"If anyone has any particular concerns they can be addressed through the contractor
and through the government agencies that manage these contracts."

Mr Morrison made a public call today for the work to be stopped until residents concerns
were addressed.

"Today residents protested again after four, five days of silt spills ... drilling
and vibration noise," he told Fairfax Radio Network.

"The work must stop until the government, Sydney Water and the contractors can answer
their questions about how their homes and how their bay are going to be protected in the

Qld: "Doctor Death" lied, says health officer

BRISBANE, April 13 AAP - A doctor who fled Australia after being labelled "Dr Death"

by colleagues had lied about his medical past in the United States, Queensland's chief
health officer said.

Dr Gerry FitzGerald said Dr Jayant Patel had failed to provide information about any
disciplinary action taken against him when he applied to work in Queensland.

The Brisbane Courier-Mail newspaper reported today Dr Patel had been cited over serious
problems with his surgery in New York State and Oregon.

Dr Patel, who worked as director of surgery at Bundaberg Base Hospital and was trained
on the Indian sub-continent, has been accused of gross incompetence linked to the deaths
or serious injury of at least 14 patients.

He quit his job and fled Australia at Easter after medical authorities started investigating
his work in Bundaberg.

The investigation started after the doctor was named in state parliament and a letter
alleging 14 cases of patients suffering serious post-operative complications was tabled.

Dr FitzGerald said the doctor had lied to Queensland authorities on a certificate of
good standing which was in effect a clearance from his home medical board.

"When he registered there were certain bits of information he was required to provide
including any disciplinary action which was under way, which he failed to do so," Dr FitzGerald
told ABC radio.

He said the Queensland Medical Board was now auditing the certificates of about 1,300
overseas-trained doctors in the state.

"What we understand is that he (Dr Patel) is still registered in Oregon and when he
came to Queensland, now over two years ago, he did have what is called a certificate of
good standing which is basically a clearance from his home medical board to say that he
was entitled to practice," Dr FitzGerald said.

"We have to rely on the certificate of good standing provided by the home medical board
of the registrant and I suppose the whole system is dependent on that."

Dr FitzGerald said the Medical Board had failed to notice that information regarding
disciplinary action was missing on the certificate.

"We are obviously not happy about that," Dr FitzGerald said.

"The vast majority of these overseas-trained doctors are well qualified and experienced
and there is no cause for concern with most of them, but we are obviously not happy about
this one."

Health Minister Gordon Nuttall was in far north Queensland and not immediately available
to comment.

-TELE2: Tele2 UK offers solution to M4 traffic congestion.

M2 PRESSWIRE-9 November 1998-TELE2: Tele2 UK offers solution to M4 traffic congestion (C)1994-98 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:061198 With Tele2's Advanced Digital Wireless Technology, Commuters Can Be Pre-warned of Traffic Hot Spots With A Simple Click to the Internet Reading, UK, 5th November 1998, Tele2 UK, the new high-speed wireless data communications company, announced today that it has installed a web camera (Webcam) on the top of its base station (referred to as TANs - Tele2 Access Nodes) at Whitley, in Reading. Visitors to the Tele2 Website (www.tele2.co.uk/demo ) can take control of the camera and steer it to provide up-to-the-minute views of the surrounding area. A number of pre-set views are also provided, offering live coverage of Junction 11 on the M4 motorway, the busy A34 trunk road to the centre of Reading and the new Madejski Stadium. Anyone with an internet connection can use this to assess levels of traffic congestion before they leave their home or office! Webcams, sometimes know as Netcams, are digital cameras set to transmit the captured images across a connection to a web page. Traditionally, Webcams use a 'wired' connection, but in this instance Tele2's Webcam uses the company's innovative advanced digital wireless technology. The UK's First Steerable Public Webcam Launching what is thought to be the UK's first publicly steerable Webcam, Peter Scrope, Managing Director of Tele2 UK commented: "This is just one of the many applications our high speed and permanently connected, advanced digital wireless technology can provide. Over the next few months we'll be demonstrating other innovative ways our technology can be applied. The benefits of digital wireless Webcams are enormous; by linking cameras to movement detectors or other sensors, Tele2 technology can be used to help prevent crime, fire, or flood - or any situation that requires routine surveillance. In many cases, access to these cameras will be restricted so that the pictures are only available to nominated people. However, webcams can also be used for fun too - as a way to attract visitors to your Website, for instance." Unlike other Webcams, Tele2 cameras can be controlled by the viewer using their web link from the 'demo' pages on the Tele2 web site - www.tele2.co.uk. Users can pan, tilt and zoom the cameras in real-time and forward-plan their route to work, thus saving time and ultimately reducing traffic congestion in the Reading area. In order to control the Tele2 cameras, a user simply needs to register on the Tele2 Website for a password, which is available free of charge. Users keep control of the camera until another registered user enters the queue, at which point an alert to the first user is sent to notify that command will cease after 60 seconds. Registered users requesting control will be notified of their position in the queue. However, in this instance, everyone is able to view images from the camera being controlled by others, without registration. Tele2 connections, available today at 128, 256 and 384 kbps, are ideal for this type of application as they provide permanent, high speed connections which are faster and cheaper than ISDN. The Tele2 service does NOT incur call charges, with the lowest tariff at just GBP 65 per month for the combined internet and telco charges, it is also far cheaper than the high fixed costs required for a traditional leased line. The wireless nature of the connection greatly increases flexibility. Tele2 UK has already rolled out its core services - offering connection to the Internet and corporate Intranet - in the Thames Valley region (Reading, Bracknell and Wokingham areas). Using Tele2's unique Advanced Digital Wireless Network - believed to be the first data network of its kind in the world, - the Tele2 network provides businesses and homeworkers with a permanent high-speed connection to either the Internet or to a company Intranet, without the high costs of a Leased Line. The two services currently available from Tele2 UK are: Tele2 Internet Service and Tele2 Intranet Service. Both services use the Tele2 Advanced Digital Wireless Network, a highly secure, high speed data communications network, over which customers can send and receive any form of communication, whether it be voice, data, audio, video or fax. Faster and cheaper than ISDN, Tele2's services offer all the benefits of a Leased Line, such as permanent connectivity, but its unique pricing structure means that customers only pay when data is actually being transferred. There are no call charges. A phased National roll out of the Tele2 UK service is planned for 1999 and will reach 60 percent of the UK population by 2003. Tele2 will be providing additional publicly controllable web cams over the coming months. Tele2 UK Background Tele2 UK Ltd ("Tele2 UK") is a subsidiary of Millicom International Cellular S.A. ("MIC"), a leading developer and operator of cellular telephone services worldwide with 33 cellular operations in 20 countries. Tele2 UK is a Public Telecommunications Operator providing broadband wireless data communications services. Tele2 UK will offer faster and cheaper connections than ISDN, at up to 2 Megabits per second, which are used principally for high speed Internet access and Intranet services. These services are principally designed for small and medium sized businesses and small office/home office workers, initially in the Thames Valley region. National roll out of the Tele2 UK service is planned for 1999, and will reach 60% of the UK population by 2003. Millicom has a successful track record in the UK, having previously been a major shareholder of other UK ventures including Vodafone and Microtel (Orange). Tele2 UK was originally called Liberty Communications, and was renamed Tele2 UK in April 1997 to fall in line with Tele2 Europe S.A., which is part of a joint venture between MIC and Industriforvaltnings A.B. Kinnevik ("Kinnevik"). MIC is in a prime position to exploit advanced digital wireless technology on a global basis. Axis Background The AXIS 200+ Web Camera and 240 Camera Server is ideal for applications ranging from quality assurance to surveillance, remote alarm verification or Web attraction. The AXIS Camera Servers take advantage of existing networks for video transmission and do not require special software to install. It's plug-and-play installation saves administration time and eliminates the need to maintain surveillance systems separately from the network. The camera installs directly to the Ethernet network which can be connected to the Internet using Tele2's Advanced Digital Wireless network. Users then view the images via a standard Web browser. AXIS ThinServer Technology Is the Backbone Like all Axis products, the AXIS 200+ Web Camera and 240 Camera Server leverages Axis' own ThinServer Technology, which allows any peripheral device to be accessed and used by multiple clients using virtually any desktop and network operating system. At the core of ThinServer Technology is Axis' ETRAX processor. Unlike general-purpose processors, ETRAX is specifically designed for embedded network systems that place high demands on input/output performance while keeping system costs down CONTACT: Fiona Egan\Minnie McBride, Tele2 UK Press Office Tel: +44 (0)171 559 9660 Fax: +44 (0)171 559 3401 e-mail: pr@tele2.net.uk *M2 COMMUNICATIONS DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY FOR INFORMATION PROVIDED WITHIN M2 PRESSWIRE. Bangalore Based Startup, DealsNow Brings Deals to Corporate Users.

India, June 20 -- In India, we have more deal sites than unique deals available in these sites and while most of the deal sites are targeting retail consumers, there are very few of them targeting enterprise customers.dealsnow

Why Enterprise customers?

Given that economy is booming and companies are hiring, it is getting difficult for companies to retain talent. Companies need to come up with incentive based rewards programs to keep employees motivated (beyond the usual compensation levers). And this is the pain point DealsNow, a Bangalore based startup is targeting.

Started by industry veterans (Cofounder, Jagadish was a VP at JP Morgan and Sagar was VP at Ozone Media/Genpact), DealsNow is essentially a deal service that ties up with organizations through their HR function and becomes part of its employee benefits/ engagement program (just the way NextJump does in US).

DealsNow provides special offers on travel, holidays, cars, bikes, mobiles cameras, flowers, gifts, restaurants, spas and other branded products and services through its e-commerce platform (these offers are not available to the general public). Also, DealsNow also provides solutions for employee rewards and recognition through the same platform.

Given that most of the deal sites in India are bleeding and struggling to keep up with customer acquisition cost vis-a-vis margin, enterprise play sounds interesting, but has its own challenges.

Here is a quick QnA with the team on their business model/roadmap:

a. Do you sell Deal service as a SAAS product to enterprise? Many of them have firewalls etc issues and insist that you bring the software in-premise.

DealsNow is hosted on the internet and employees can access it from anywhere. Whenever we sign up with the corporate, we get IT clearance to enable the employees get access to our website and our emails through the corporate network. We already have a basic white-labeled solution as a part of our platform which we activate whenever our corporate partner so requires. For higher levels of customization, we would take it up as a separate project.

b. Why not retail route? Cracking an enterprise deal takes its own sweet time, so why not have a mix of retail+corporate users?

The enterprise route does take a lot of time to crack but it keeps our cost per acquisition very low (as compared to our B2C websites). It enables us to target a high potential audience in a focused way. Also, it keeps our cost per transaction low as our marketing is limited largely to within corporate offices and that too through the corporates - people spend 8-10 hours, 5 days a week in their offices - hence, our platform gets a good exposure.

Plus, the effect of viral marketing amongst employees. Also, a lot of brands are comfortable doing discounts only within a closed user group which is what DealsNow is. The process of tying up with corporates is a relatively slow process but it is an effective entry barrier to competition. Also, with a certain number of marquee clients under the belt this process gets accelerated. We would continue to focus on closed user groups; later on might open up to B2C in a limited way through paid membership model.

c. Future roadmap.

We want DealsNow to emerge as a leading benefits and rewards solution provider. We will target all closed user groups - employees of organizations, members of customer loyalty programs, residents of large apartments, etc. We will be focusing on the employee segment initially. We are planning to tie with 60+ organizations by Mar 2012 giving us access to about 800,000 employees.

CTI Group Reports First Quarter 2011 Results.

INDIANAPOLIS, May 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CTI Group (Holdings) Inc. (OTCBB: CTIG), an international provider of electronic invoice processing and management (EIM), enterprise communications management software and services solutions, and carrier class voice over internet protocol (VoIP) management applications, reported results for the three months ended March 31, 2011. Revenues for the three months ended March 31, 2011 increased to $4,116,366 as compared to revenues for the three months ended March 31, 2010 of $3,940,057. The Company reported a net loss for the three months ended March 31, 2011 of ($342,516) or ($0.01) per share as compared to a net loss of ($223,131) or ($0.01) per share for the three months ended March 31, 2010. The increase in revenues for the three months ended March 31, 2011 was primarily attributable to the increase in sales in VoIP and Telemanagement segments and the increased net loss in the three months ended March 31, 2011 was primarily due to increased costs incurred in the Telemanagement segment during the three months ended March 31, 2011.

Commenting on the results, John Birbeck, CTI Group's President and CEO, stated, "We emerged from the challenges faced in 2010 prepared for growth. We are encouraged by increased revenues and especially an approximate $6 million order received from a large European telecommunications company we disclosed previously. This $6 million order has been paid in advance and has greatly improved the liquidity of CTI. We are encouraged that this new order will provide us with the momentum needed to make 2011 a good year for CTI."

The Company's hosted VoIP applications provide business telephone facilities in a hosted, distributed telecoms environment while creating new revenue opportunities for service providers through the delivery of compelling value added services. CTI Group's new products include emPulse, a real-time web-based communications management and analysis solution, and the award-winning SmartRecord, which enables service providers to selectively intercept and record any communications on behalf of their hosted and managed service customers.
