NaviSoft Inc., a subsidiary of America Online, has signed a deal with Hewlett-Packard Co. to jointly market content-building tools for the Internet's World Wide Web on HP Series 9000 servers and workstations.
NaviSoft tools will be available for authoring Web content on HP's UNIX-based machines. Businesses and individuals then use the hardware to publish and disseminate information on the Web.
HP will optimize Navisoft tools for the HP-UX 10.0 operating environment. Jan Silverman, director of HP's Internet Solutions unit, says "This combined effort will help customers take advantage of new Web technologies for meeting demand on the rapidly-growing Internet."
In other news, NaviSoft and Digital Equipment Corp. have also announced a joint marketing agreement to market their integrated hardware/software solutions for Web servers.
This agreement also covers technical cooperation. Engineering teams from NaviSoft and Digital will optimize NaviSoft Web authoring and publishing tools for Digital's Alpha servers.
