Bkb: Italians stun Lithuania to reach Olympic basketball final

Italy has stunned previously unbeaten Lithuania 100-91 in the Olympic men's basketball
semi-finals to book a spot in the gold medal game against Argentina.

One of the finalists will claim their nation's first-ever Olympic crown in men's basketball.

Argentina clinched a first-ever medal by reaching the final with an 89-81 victory over
the United States, dethroning the three-time defending champion group of US National Basketball
Association stars.

Italy's only medal was a silver at the boycott-marred 1980 Moscow Games.

Lithuania, bronze medallist in the past three Olympics, will meet the Americans in
a bronze medal match.

Both were pre-tournament favourites to reach the gold medal game.
